The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is an independent statutory agency in Australia. Who is Eligible for the NDIS? To be eligible for NDIS funding, you must meet a handful of criteria. To apply for the NDIS, you must be:
  • A permanent Australian Citizen or hold a permanent visa or a Protected Special Category visa
  • Be under 65 years of age when you first apply
  • Be older than 7 years old
  • You have a permanent disability that significantly affects your ability to take part in daily activities

  1. Make a Verbal Access Request by calling the NDIA at 1800 800 110
  2. Contact your local LAC or NDIA office to make an Access Request
  3. Or, fill out and submit an Access Request Form
To apply, you must provide supporting information including your age, residency and disability (or need for early intervention). These can include documents given by doctors or medical professionals.
