Maintaining Kitchen Safety

The kitchen can be a dangerous place for participants. There are heavy objects, high cabinets, and hot appliances. We can work with participants to help them prepare meals safely.  By working closely with participants, we can assess their requirements and create tailored solutions that empower them to enjoy nutritious meals in a secure environment. We also help with cleanup to prevent the spread of bacteria or food-borne illness.

FAQs

Your disability might mean you can’t shop, cook or clean up after preparing your meal. NDIS may fund the cost of a support worker to help you shop for your food, prepare your meals, and to clean up afterwards.

The NDIS recently made it easier for more participants to use their funding to pay for meal preparation and delivery. Now, anyone with Core funding in their plan can use it for this purpose under line item number 01_023_0120_1_1.

When you cook a recipe, make extra portions for another day or two of meals, or to freeze for a different week. Be sure to date and label what goes in the freezer so you know what you have on hand. For lunches, get a head-start and use individual meal containers. Divide cooked food into the containers on prep day.

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

It is jointly governed and funded by the Australian, and participating state and territory governments.

Typically, an NDIS plan is broken down into 3 parts; About Me, My Goals and My Supports. As well as this, your plan will show: Your name. NDIS number.

There are three main types of NDIS plans for managing funding:

Self-Managed: You directly manage your NDIS funding, accessing supports that align with your goals.

Plan-Managed: The NDIA provides funding for a Plan Manager who pays your providers, tracks funds, and handles financial reporting on your behalf.

NDIA-Managed: The NDIA pays your providers directly.

You can also choose a combination of these options, such as self-managing part of your plan while having the rest managed by the NDIA. Regardless of the management type, you retain choice and control over your services and budget.

With Careon Services, you can rest assured that you will receive reliable support and guidance on your journey towards better health and well-being.
