What is STA?

People with disabilities and their carers who need short-term accommodation can use short-term accommodation services. When people are transitioning to a new home or need somewhere to stay while they wait for permanent housing, this is a great option.

Moreover, short-term accommodation aligns seamlessly with the core principles of the NDIS, empowering participants to exercise choice and control over the services they receive. By tailoring these accommodations to individual needs and preferences, the NDIS ensures that each person can access the support that truly enhances their quality of life.

Benefits Of Short-Term Accommodation

The benefits of short-term accommodation are numerous and far-reaching. It offers individuals with disabilities the opportunity to experience greater independence, explore new environments, and engage in social interactions beyond their everyday routines. For carers, it provides respite, ensuring they can recharge and continue providing the high-quality care their loved ones require.

It is a vital service that enables people with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives, while also supporting the carers who are integral to their well-being. Investing in this service is a testament to the NDIS’s commitment.

What is the Purpose of STA Program?

The Short-Term Accommodation (STA) program, also known as respite care, serves a crucial purpose within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Respite Care for Participants and Carers:

STA provides a break and change of scenery for both NDIS participants and their informal carers. As an NDIS participant, you get the opportunity to try new things and develop new skills during your stay in short-term accommodation.
Meanwhile, your carer receives a much-needed breather from their caregiving role.

What STA Involves:

Respite care isn’t just about the accommodation itself; it also encompasses the support services you receive during your stay.
Many respite care providers offer capacity-building group activities during your stay, such as art therapy sessions, group fitness activities, or day trips.

Remember, STA serves as a bridge to rejuvenation, skill-building, and community engagement within the NDIS framework.
